Madison fire hydrants to be color-coded

|
Like many other towns and cities, Madison has initiated a color system to help firefighters identify water flow capacity. The tops and nozzle caps of more than 8,400 hydrants in Madison will be painted red, orange, green and light blue. Red hydrants indicate a capacity of 500 gallons of water per minute while blue hydrants indicate more than 1,500 gallons per minute.
