Golden Baht
The Thai Treasury Department has announced that it will release a new 2-baht coin come September.
The current 2-baht denomination is easily mistaken for the 1-baht coin; both are silver and vary only slightly in size.
The new edition will change in composition to an alloy of copper, nickel and aluminum, giving it a lighter weight and a yellow-golden color.
The new coin will continue to depict King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the obverse, but will show a different temple (located in Bangkok) on the reverse.
